Welcome to Shearsby
The village of Shearsby is situated in rural South Leicestershire, about five miles south of Wigston, on the Leicester to Northampton road.
It is a settlement of some 90 houses, centred on the Village Green which forms the heart of the village. Radiating from the Green, Church Lane is overlooked by the church of St Mary Magdalene and the 17th-century Yeoman's Cottage.
To the south, Fenny Lane houses the public house, The Chandlers Arms.
A broad mixture of old and new houses are clustered together in this close-knit community, where the year is punctuated by parties, flower shows, fetes, and its best-known event, Jazz on the Green.
The distinctive red brick which was once made in the village is noticeable in many of the older buildings.
Shearsby's former school building was bought by the village in 1996 and was extended and renovated to provide a superb village hall, where toddlers' groups, W.I. meetings and other celebrations are held, as well as the meetings of the Parish Meeting and the thriving Community Association.
Although protected as a Conservation Area, Shearsby is by no means dormant - it is a lively, active and busy community well worthy of a pause on the Leicestershire Round.

Chandler's Arms
The owners, the Compton family, write:
"We both believe that a village pub should be part of the village community, and should provide a comfortable environment for people to meet. We will work hard to provide a warm, friendly environment that is welcoming to all who come in.
Steve, as some of you may have guessed, is a real ale enthusiast and he will be working hard sampling new local beers every week - it's a tough job, but someone's got to do it!
Karen will be in the kitchen providing good value home cooked food - nothing too fancy, just good honest pub grub.
Our sons Peter and John are both back at university now, so that just leaves Terry, who is taking a year out to help us establish the business, and the two dogs Stella and Ber
